I love a good pair of TOMS. Not only are they SUPER comfortable and come in all sorts of trendy patterns and colors, they also have an amazing business practice: for every pair of shoes that is bought, a pair is given to a child in need. They are more than just a shoe (and other accessories) company, they are a hub for taking action and creating positive change. And as a Girl Scout, I’m a big fan of those things.
One of the issues that TOMS Tribe (an activism section of the company) is focusing its energy on is the global issue of avoidable blindness and visual impairment. World Sight Day is coming up on October 8 and TOMS created a toolkit of activities just for Girl Scouts. And it doesn’t get any simpler: participate in a World Sight Day activity as a troop and receive free commemorative patches for your girls.
Visit their Girl Scout site to get more information about World Sight Day Girl Scout Activities, download their toolkit (which I have reviewed and LOVE – there are a great range of activities for all grade levels), and register to let TOMS know you will be participating.
Happy awareness building!
