I realize that my status as a GSRV employee renders me a bit biased… but I absolutely LOVE these Birthday in a Box kits we’re selling this year in celebration of the Samoas’ 40th birthday! SO cute! The kit comes with cake mix, frosting, birthday candles, a package of Samoas (!), a Samoas flavored cupcake recipe, a feature dvd, a special “I partied like it’s my birthday” fun patch for each girl (which features a Samoas cookie wearing a birthday hat, naturally), a cookie bracelet craft kit for each girl, and birthday hats for each girl! AND at only $4 per girl. AND the kit will be shipped to your house at no extra cost. WHAT?! Amazing. I am a total and complete sucker for theme parties- and this one takes the cake (I couldn’t help myself!)
These orders will be shipped out in December and we encourage leaders to hold their party on January 10th (the official day of birth of our dear Samoas cookie), but feel free to hold it on whatever day works best for your troop. Early January is a perfect time to hold this party for the girls and makes for an excellent segue to start planning for the cookie season ahead. Plan for cookie season, eat cupcakes- the two just fit together so nicely!
Planning for cookie season involves holding a family cookie meeting, which is when you’ll talk with girls and parents about how the Cookie Program works, what cookies the girls will be selling, details of the sale, what the girls’ goals are, and of course talking about those awesome rewards for participating!
You can count on me having more posts as we near Cookie Go Day with tips and tricks for a successful sale. As we near the sale, troops will be receiving their 2015 Troop Cookie Manager Guidebook which will cover all of the specifics of the program. For right now I’m keeping it simple with three tips:
- Tip #1: Decide on a date for your family cookie meeting and get it on the troop calendar early in the year.
- Tip #2: Have an upbeat and gung-ho attitude toward the season- parents and girls will find your enthusiasm infectious and will start looking forward to cookie season as well.
- Tip #3: Combine your fun attitude with the family cookie meeting- perhaps by throwing in a fabulous party with hats and cake? Hmmm?
I leave you with quotes from two brilliant women- the first is Julia Child who said, “A party without a cake is just a meeting.” The second is Brianna Belmore who says, “Have all of your meetings incorporate cake therefore making them parties.”
I think more meetings with cake are something we can all get behind. Order your Birthday in a Box kit today!
