The days are finally getting longer and the temperatures are warming up, which means spring isn’t too far away! Spring is a time for transformation, inspiration, and breaking out of that winter gloom. If you and your girls are looking for some fresh perspective and healthy living activities to jump-start your spring (even if there is still snow on the ground!), look no further than these great resources developed by Allina Health!
Health Powered Kids:
Maintaining peak mental, physical, and social health is of major importance for girls of all ages. To help you ensure your girls are living their healthiest life, Girl Scouts teamed up with Allina Health to develop a huge variety of healthy living activity plans that also meet badge requirements at every program grade level. Whether you’ve got a gaggle of Brownies in your kitchen prepping for their Snacks badge, or a cluster of Cadettes exploring the Science of Happiness, they’ve got super easy, step-by-step plans to tailor the badge to your girls’ interests. Plus, if your girls complete two of the activity plans, they get a free Healthy Living Patch from Allina Health—two birds, one stone? Doesn’t get better than that for our multitasking
superheroes troop leaders!
Change to Chill:
If you’re the leader or parent of a Cadette, Senior, or Ambassador troop, you already know how stressful middle and high school can be for girls. Trying to balance school, friends, sports, family life, and more—it’s no wonder teens are stressed! That’s why Allina Health created Change to Chill, a fun, girl-friendly online resource that helps girls identify what is stressing them out and how to manage stress in a way that fits their personality and lifestyle.
Lead the easy-to-follow youth workshop at your next troop meeting (including some great stress-busting yoga moves), and girls can earn a free, limited-edition Change to Chill patch! BONUS: If your girls love snapping pics on their phones or making memes for their friends, you can encourage them to participate in the Chiller Challenge, a creative outlet for teens to win cool prizes and have their ‘Chiller’ posted on the Change to Chill website.
Healthy Living + Girl Scouts:
Healthy living is an area that Girl Scouts is really passionate about on both a local and national level. We are looking for new ways to provide programming and activities that really speak to girls living their lives in a healthy manner, and you as a leader are such a huge part of that conversation. Learn more about both of these programs and let me know what you think!
Wishing you and your girls a healthy and fun spring!
