Today marks the first day of May, and in my opinion, it’s the true start of spring for us Midwesterners. Things are looking green, the weather is getting warmer, and everything is feeling fresh and new. Today is also our kick-off to Early Bird season and we at Girl Scouts are pretty pumped as we look forward to another year of Girl Scouting!
If you’re a new troop leader this year, you might have a few questions about this Early Bird business, so here’s the scoop on what it is and why to get in on it:
This year’s Early Bird season runs from May 1- July 10, 2015. It’s a time where Girl Scout members (volunteers, parents, girls, staff, etc.) can register for the 2015-2016 Girl Scout year in advance and get in on a few perks.
Why Early Bird It?
The convenience factor. For the majority of parents, fall is a busy time as school is getting back in session and activities are starting back up. As a parent, this is one less registration you’ll need to think about come fall and as a volunteer, this time of year might be a little easier to connect with parents about renewing memberships.
The patch. If you renew (or join) for the 2015-2016 year during this time you’ll receive the coveted Early Bird patch. Which is a thing. Every year a new bird is featured on the Early Bird patch and girls get excited about collecting them for each year. This year is the Acona chicken and it’s pretty adorable.
The discount. Everyone who renews during Early Bird season receives a shop discount card, which is good for 15 percent off any item (with in-store purchase) once per month from June 2015-May 2016. Super simple and an awesome deal.
Check out our renew page for more information and to start the renewal process. As always, if you have any questions about the process you can reach out to us at 800-845-0787 or at email@example.com.
